Frequently asked questions
General FAQs
Everyone has a relationship with food and their body, and for many of us, that relationship can feel complicated, stressful, or confusing at times.
Therapy is a space to slow down and gently explore what’s underneath those struggles. It’s a place to understand why patterns around food and body image developed in the first place, to learn new ways of relating to yourself, and to practice self-compassion as you grow.
Beyond food and body concerns, therapy can also help you navigate stressful life transitions, build healthier relationships, set boundaries, manage anxiety, and deepen your sense of self. You don’t have to wait until things feel “bad enough”! Support is valuable at any stage, and you deserve care simply because you’re human.
Clients often describe therapy with me as warm, down-to-earth, collaborative, and deeply human. I firmly believe that you are the expert of your own experience.
My style is grounded in curiosity and compassion. I’m not here to judge, “fix” you, or hand you a list of things to change. Instead, we’ll explore what’s underneath your struggles together, at a pace that feels safe and supportive.
You'll likely meet my two cats, Cheddar & Swiss, while we work together as they occasionally pop in to say hello.
I’ll help you connect the dots between past experiences and present patterns, offer new perspectives, and teach practical tools you can use in daily life. At the same time, I hold space for all parts of you, even and especially the ones that feel messy or hard to talk about.
I believe that therapy works best when it’s a partnership, so I welcome your feedback, questions, and preferences along the way. My goal is that you leave each session feeling understood, supported, and a little more connected to yourself.
No, Innerbloom Counseling is a fully virtual practice. I offer online therapy sessions for clients located anywhere in Wisconsin and Illinois, including Madison, Milwaukee, Chicago and surrounding areas.
Virtual therapy allows you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own home, without the stress of commuting or scheduling around travel. All sessions are held via a secure, HIPAA compliant video platform called "Sessions", and you’ll receive the same level of connection, care, and therapeutic support you would in an in-person setting.
Yes! I’m currently accepting new clients who are located in Wisconsin or Illinois. I work with people seeking support around food, body image, anxiety, trauma, relationships, and more. I offer sessions Monday through Friday, and usually have openings within 1–2 weeks of reaching out.
The frequency of therapy is flexible and tailored to you. We’ll make decisions together based on your goals, your schedule, and what feels sustainable.
Many clients choose to meet weekly or every other week when we’re first getting started. Meeting more consistently in the beginning helps us build rapport, create momentum, and lay a strong foundation for change. As therapy progresses and you start to feel more grounded in the work, we can revisit the pace and adjust as needed.
I also understand that schedules, finances, and life circumstances play a big role in how often therapy fits into your life. My goal is to support you in a way that feels helpful and realistic, so we’ll work together to find a rhythm that makes sense for you.
I offer 60-minute individual virtual therapy sessions for adults in Wisconsin and Illinois who are ready to make peace with food, feel more at home in their bodies, and heal the parts of themselves that feel stuck. My online therapy practice specializes in the following areas:
Eating disorders & disordered eating therapy: Maybe you’re stuck in a cycle of restriction and overeating, or you spend most of your day thinking about what you “should” or “shouldn’t” eat. You might feel guilty after meals or like your worth depends on what you eat or what you weigh. Through online eating disorder therapy, we’ll work to understand what’s driving those patterns and help you build a more trusting, peaceful relationship with food.
Body image therapy: If how you feel about your body shapes how you show up: like avoiding photos, skipping social events, comparing yourself to an old version of you, or constantly trying to “fix” something, you’re not alone. Virtual body image therapy can help you shift out of the cycle of body criticism and toward body respect, self-compassion, and confidence that isn’t tied to how you look.
Anxiety & depression therapy: Maybe your mind feels like it’s always running: replaying conversations, imagining worst-case scenarios, or criticizing everything you do. Or maybe everything just feels heavy, like you’re moving through fog and struggling to find motivation. With online therapy for anxiety and depression, we’ll build coping tools, untangle what’s underneath those feelings, and help you reconnect with what matters most to you.
Relational trauma therapy: Past experiences in relationships, whether family, romantic, or friendships, can leave you doubting yourself, struggling to set boundaries, or fearing closeness. You might find yourself repeating patterns you know aren’t serving you but don’t know how to change. Virtual therapy for relational trauma offers a safe space to understand and heal those wounds so you can create relationships that feel secure, supportive, and aligned with who you are.
Before our first session, you’ll receive a secure link via email and text to join our virtual therapy space. We’ll start by reviewing your intake forms and practice policies, and you’ll have a chance to ask any questions about the logistics of therapy or the process itself.
From there, we’ll begin getting to know each other. I like to keep intake sessions light and conversational. It’s not about drilling you with a list of questions, but about learning what makes you you and understanding what brings you to therapy.
The main goal of this first session is to start building a relationship and exploring what direction we might take together. Before we wrap up, we’ll talk about next steps, including whether you’d like to schedule another session and start setting some initial goals and intentions for our work.
Getting started is simple. The first step is to schedule a free 15-minute consultation, where we’ll talk about what’s bringing you to therapy and how I can help. If it feels like a good fit, we’ll schedule your first virtual session and begin working together toward your goals.
All sessions are held online, so you can connect from anywhere in Wisconsin or Illinois (including Madison, Milwaukee, Chicago, and beyond) from the comfort of your own space.
